It is not a flashy luxury card. It is a practical, everyday card that rewards you on the things most people spend on regularly — dining, travel, and online shopping. Right now, there is also a limited-time offer that makes it free for life, which changes the math on whether this card makes sense for you.

Here is what you need to know before you apply for BOB Eterna Credit Card.

What Is the BOB Eterna Credit Card?

What Is the BOB Eterna Credit Card

The BOB Eterna is a mid-premium credit card from Bank of Baroda. Its regular joining and annual fee is ₹2,499 plus taxes. But for a limited time — reportedly until December 31, 2025 — applicants with an annual income of ₹12 lakh or more can get it as a Lifetime Free (LTF) card.

That means no joining fee, no annual fee, ever. Subject to bank approval, of course.

If you qualify for the LTF offer, the value calculation becomes straightforward: you are getting a card worth ₹2,499/year for free.

What’s the Welcome Benefits?

When you get the card, two things happen right away.

First, you get a 6-month complimentary FitPass Pro membership. This gives you access to more than 2,500 gyms and fitness studios across India. If you already pay for a gym membership or have been thinking about it, this alone offsets a few hundred rupees in the first months.

Second, spend ₹50,000 within your first 60 days and you get 10,000 bonus Reward Points. At ₹0.25 per point, that is ₹2,500 in value. Most regular spenders hit ₹50,000 in two months without trying.

Rewards Structure

This is where the BOB Eterna Credit Card earns its place.

Spend CategoryEarning RateApprox. Value-Back
Dining15 RP per ₹100 (5X)~3.75%
Online Shopping15 RP per ₹100 (5X)~3.75%
Travel (General)15 RP per ₹100 (5X)~3.75%
Travel via BOBCARD SmartDealUp to 10X extraUp to ~8.25%
International Spends15 RP per ₹100 (5X)Effective ~1.75%*
All Other Eligible Spends3 RP per ₹100~0.75%

*After factoring in the 2% + GST forex markup on international transactions.

The accelerated rewards cap at 5,000 RP per month, so heavy spenders in these categories will hit a ceiling. Keep that in mind if dining and online shopping make up a huge chunk of your monthly budget.

Categories That Don’t Earn Accelerated Rewards

Fuel, rent, utilities, government payments, insurance premiums, wallet loads, fast food joints, supermarkets, and convenience stores are excluded from the 5X rate. They may still earn the base 3 RP per ₹100, but do not count on getting the higher rate here.

Lounge Access

Spend ₹40,000 in a quarter and you get unlimited domestic airport lounge access for that quarter. That threshold is achievable for most regular card users.

Unlimited lounge access is uncommon in this fee range. Most cards in a similar segment either cap lounge visits or charge for them.

Movie Offer

Buy one, get one movie ticket on District — up to ₹250 off, once per month. Use the promo code BOBMOVIES at checkout, or select the BOBCARD Eterna offer.

Two tickets a month? This alone saves you ₹250–₹500 depending on the city and theatre.

Fuel Surcharge Waiver

1% waiver on fuel transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹250 per month. Not a headline feature, but it adds up if you fill up regularly.

Insurance

  • ₹1 crore accidental air death cover
  • ₹10 lakh non-air accidental death cover
  • Zero liability on unauthorized transactions (if you report the card lost in time)

Milestone Bonus

Spend ₹5 lakh in a year, and you get 20,000 bonus Reward Points — worth ₹5,000. That works out to an extra 1% back on your annual spending.

If your monthly spend is around ₹40,000–₹45,000, you will hit this milestone without doing anything differently.

Other Charges to Know

BOB Eterna Credit Card Charges
  • Forex Markup: 2% on all international transactions (this is how the effective value-back on international spends comes down to ~1.75%)
  • Finance Charges: 3.25% per month (39% per annum) if you carry a balance
  • Late Payment Fee: Starts at ₹100, goes up to ₹1,300 based on outstanding amount

Carry a balance on this card and the charges will eat through any rewards you earn. Pay your bill in full every month.

BOB Eterna Credit Card: The International Spend Angle

Here is something that does not get mentioned enough: even after the 2% forex markup, you still net a positive ~1.75% return on international spends. The 5X reward rate on foreign transactions partially offsets the currency conversion fee.

Very few zero-fee or lifetime-free cards offer a net gain on international spending. Most either don’t reward foreign transactions at all, or the rewards don’t cover the forex markup.

Final Verdict

Rating: 4.5 / 5 (with the Limited-Time LTF Offer)

The BOB Eterna Credit Card is a solid, well-thought-out card for everyday spenders. It doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. The reward rates on dining, travel, and online shopping are genuinely good. The unlimited domestic lounge access is better than what most cards in this segment offer. And the milestone bonus gives you an extra push to spend consistently through the year.

The main things to watch: the monthly accelerated rewards cap of 5,000 RP limits high spenders, and the exclusion list is longer than you would expect.

Under the current Lifetime Free offer, the math is hard to argue with. You are getting ₹2,499/year of value — effectively — at zero cost, as long as you qualify.

Card terms, fees, and features are subject to change. Always verify the current offer details on the BOBCARD official website before applying.
